Microsoft Copilot

Microsoft Copilot

Microsoft 365 Copilot and Azure AI Foundry are likely enterprise defaults for customers already committed to Microsoft identity, documents, and compliance tooling.

Privacy model

Microsoft says Microsoft 365 Copilot prompts, responses, and Microsoft Graph data are not used to train foundation models. Copilot respects existing permissions, and its interactions can be retained for chat history, auditing, and eDiscovery.

That makes existing oversharing an AI issue: the assistant can ground on information the user already has permission to access. Foundry options can provide regional controls, but stateful APIs and abuse monitoring need separate review.

Lesson for the venture

The opportunity is not to insist that logged enterprise AI is bad. It is to help small teams identify permissions, data sources, retention, and unsuitable connectors before an AI can traverse them. Private AI services#Safe-agent deployment makes that a paid service.
