Örebropartiet (the Örebro Party, ÖP) is a Swedish local political party active in the Örebro municipality. It matters to this wiki mainly as the recipient of the donation at the center of the Mullvad donation controversy.

Origins and profile

The party grew out of the circle around Markus Allard and Malcom Kyeyune, who were ousted from the Left Party in 2014; Allard founded ÖP as a municipal party while Kyeyune became a writer, and the two developed their politics on the long-running podcast Markus och Malcom. The party’s platform crosses the usual spectrum: welfare-state expansion (a 30-hour work week, free public transport, expanded social housing, free dental care) combined with restrictive, nationalist immigration positions. The Berntsson donation

In 2025 Daniel Berntsson donated five million SEK (roughly half a million US dollars) to the party. The Hated One’s video, citing donation.watch, puts that sum at more than 90% of the party’s entire historical funding — a single-source figure to treat as approximate. Whatever the exact share, the donation instantly made a small municipal party’s largest funder the co-owner of a major privacy company, and propelled the party into national coverage ahead of Sweden’s 2026 general election.
