A blog post by Daniel Berntsson, co-founder and co-owner of Mullvad, published 2026-07-20 on his personal blog dberntsson.info. It is his own rationale for donating five million Swedish krona to Örebropartiet, and it is the text Mullvad’s official statement points readers to. Saved copies: the post (raw) and a homepage snapshot (raw) showing the post in the context of the blog, whose author line reads “Ställe att publicera saker” (“a place to publish things”).

What it argues

Berntsson describes himself as a “libertarian anarchist” and opens with the dilemma of participating in state politics at all. His resolution is an incentives argument: pacifist abstention rewards the most ruthless actors, so he now accepts participation despite its moral cost.

The post then explains why Örebropartiet specifically. He traces the party to Markus Allard and Malcom Kyeyune, ousted from the Left Party in 2014, and to their long-running podcast, where they developed the concept of the “transferiat”: the two groups he sees as living off tax extraction, a public-sector-aligned professional-managerial layer and a welfare-dependent underclass. He credits Örebropartiet as the only Swedish party naming this mechanism, praises it for reacting to local-government abuse cases in Örebro, and frames the donation as encouragement and counterweight to what he considers dishonest media treatment and illegal obstruction of the party.

He is explicit about his reservations:

Do I like most of ÖP’s policies? No. Are they fit to run a country? No. (Neither are the other parties.) Do I want ÖP to get a lot of power? No. Will giving them a leg up in the competition with the other parties, given the local political circumstances, be a net positive? Maybe. Probably. Hopefully.

A disclaimer states the views are his own, not the party’s, Allard’s, or Kyeyune’s. The post does not discuss the party’s remigration policy, the point critics focused on.
